Message from the President
Dear Members of the Chamber and Friends,
It is my utmost honor and privilege to address you for this Gala occasion. Today we are not simply celebrating a Gala. We are celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Portugal-US Chamber of Commerce! Feeling proud about the present, honoring the past with a sense of duty and responsibility. Hence, it is a true privilege and honor to share this moment today with so many distinguished members and guests.
More importantly, we celebrate the longstanding friendship and business relations between Portugal and the US, and we celebrate the Portuguese and American companies and people who cross the Atlantic to work, learn and exchange best practices. In short, we celebrate all of you – Friends and Members of the Chamber: you are the fabric of the Chamber, which exists because of you and to serve you.
With this goal in mind, the Executive Team is committed to expand the Chamber’s footprint. Geographic outreach with relevant events planned for California, Connecticut and Texas. Scope expansion in terms of materializing synergies and unlocking the exponential value of networks with “alike” organizations we consider of reference serving both Portugal and the US.
In this context, the Chamber works in close association with AICEP Portugal Global, the Embassy of Portugal in DC (and Consulates across the US), the European Chamber of Commerce, Flad and Visit Portugal. And this year, the Chamber has entered into key partnerships and alliances in the US with NYPALC, Palcus and PAPS, and in Portugal with CCIP.
Today the Chamber is a dynamic, vivid, cohesive and open organization. Testament to this is our growing and diverse membership – both in the US and in Portugal – as well as the diversity of the activities in which our members are engaged in: consulting, energy, law, finance and banking, retail, real estate, technology… just to name a few. This brings extensive expertise and providing enormous networking potential and resources to our members.
With the continued support and confidence of our members, partners and friends we look forward to continuing to pursue our mission. And our mission is simple: to support its members conducting business and foster commercial relations across the Atlantic.
A final thought to the honorees of the night and a great word of appreciation to our indefectible Sponsors without whom this celebration would not be so special.
