2025 Gala Highlights

The Portugal-US Chamber of Commerce came together in New York City for our 2025 Gala, a special evening dedicated to celebrating the people, partnerships, and progress that sustain our community.

The night was marked by reflection, recognition, and inspiration. We honored the memory of Magda Vakil, former Executive Director of the Chamber. Our President, Rodrigo Carvalho, shared heartfelt words about Magda’s enduring legacy: “Even though Magda lived far from home, she carried Portugal in her heart. She made everyone around her feel that warmth, that generosity, that joy of sharing.” Her spirit continues to guide our mission and strengthen the bonds between Portugal and the United States.

We were also proud to recognize two remarkable members for their dedication and leadership:

• Rogério Fernandes Ferreira – recipient of the Outstanding Commitment Award for his tireless support and involvement,

• Rodolfo Lavrador – honored with the Past President Award for his exceptional leadership and years guiding the Chamber forward.

Adding to the evening’s inspiration, Portugal’s Secretary of State for Digitalisation, Bernardo Correia, joined the Gala as our keynote speaker. He shared insights on Portugal’s growing role in global digital innovation and highlighted the vision of the leaders driving this progress - many of whom are active members of our Chamber.

Our Annual Gala is a true celebration of the community we built and continue to build. The leaders, partners, sponsors, members, and friends who joined us reflected the commitment, generosity, and shared sense of purpose that connects us across borders.
