Manuel Pinho is a former Minister of Economy of Portugal (2005-09) and currently a professor at Columbia and Georgetown Universities, where he teaches Global Energy Policy.
He is a Guest professor at Beijing Foreign Studies University, was a senior fellow of Yale's Jackson Institute for International Affairs, and was a visiting professor at the University of Queensland in Australia.
In his early career he was an economist at the International Monetary Fund, Director General of the Treasury and Chairman of the Public Debt board and a Director at Banco Espirito Santo, Portugal. He holds a doctoral degree from the University of Paris.
